The European Digital Naval Foundation (EDINAF) project marks a leap in naval vessel architecture by integrating digital twin technologies into the core of naval operations. Aimed at advancing naval capabilities, EDINAF aims to equip the supply chain with the methodologies to develop digital twin models that integrate within the digital ship ecosystem. This ecosystem comprises two core components: the Digital Ship Reference Architecture and the Digital Platform. These elements provide a standardized yet flexible framework that ensures the digital twins developed as per the guidelines are compatible and functional within the broader naval system. This abstract elucidates the methodologies deployed in EDINAF, highlighting how they seek a framework for digital twins, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and adaptability in naval vessel construction, operation, and maintenance.
